“The Success for All Foundation will create and evaluate “Around the Corner,” a technology-enhanced approach
to early literacy that combines the Success for All Foundation’s Curiosity Corner preschool and KinderCorner kindergarten
programs with content from the PBS show “Between the Lions,” and other multimedia content.
The foundation will pilot the approach in twelve schools.”

Announcement of the second round of i3 finalists: “One applicant this time, the Success for All Foundation, has been
selected for its second i3 grant. In the announcement today, Success for All was chosen for its $3 million proposal to create and
evaluate a technology-enhanced approach to early literacy. Success for All was also listed as one of three project partners
on the $25 million plan from Old Dominion University.”

“At Ohio’s No. 1 school on the list — Wells Academy in the Steubenville School District in eastern Ohio — they aren’t printing
up the commemorative T-shirts just yet. Wells Academy is a 300-student pre-K–4 school that got an “A” from the state on its most recent
state report card. More than half of its students are from low-income families. Being at the top of this list is nice, Principal Joe Nocera
told us this afternoon: 'But it’s not what we’re all about. We’re trying to teach kids the best we can and have them prepared
for the next level. That’s our goal,' he said."

Department of Education elementary schools using the Success for All program consistently scored higher in reading, math,
and language arts compared to schools that are not using a standardized program or that are using the Direct Instruction program,
according to the Stanford Achievement Test, 10th Edition, results that were released Friday.

A program that promises to close the achievement gap has arrived at Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School and is
already making a difference in the lives of children. “Our mission with Success for All is to be able to have more students reading on
grade level at all grade levels,” Principal Amy Stout said. “And for those students who are proficient, we want to focus on giving
them more tools to be able to break down the text and understand what it is they’re being asked to do.”
