Measuring how students will perform on high-stakes assessments is critical in elementary school, but an immediate concern for middle schools as well. 4Sight assessments are available for many states in grades 6-8. They help you to predict how students will perform on state assessments, and provide useful data for focusing professional development and instructional goals.

In today’s high-stakes testing environment, you can’t afford to wait to see how your students perform on your state assessments. You need to estimate how students are likely to perform throughout the year. That’s why the Success for All Foundation created 4Sight, a benchmark assessment tool that enables you to predict your students’ reading – and in some states, math – achievement multiple times throughout the year. These predictions allow you time to take action in the areas in which students need help. No prediction is perfect, but 4Sight provides a useful guide to help teachers focus instruction.

4Sight Predicts Performance on Each Major Subskill

4Sight assessments are one-hour tests that mimic the formats, coverage, look, and feel of your state assessments. They produce overall scores that predict students’ scores on state assessments such as TAKS, PSSA, TCAP, CST, and many others. Further, 4Sight produces scores on key subskills designed around your state’s standards – for example, interpreting text, drawing conclusions, geometry, and so on. These scores tell you where to focus professional development efforts to ensure student success.

4Sight is Teacher Friendly

4Sight is designed to be useful to teachers and school leaders. With easy-to-use scoring rubrics and a variety of scoring options available in some states (scoring masks, scannable answer sheets, online testing), teachers can quickly determine each child’s strengths and weaknesses. Because they participate in scoring, teachers feel that they own the data and can have confidence in it.

4Sight is Economical

4Sight is reasonably priced. The cost includes unlimited use of the Member Center (SFAF’s online database) and its reporting tools, and a free half-day training for school leaders (for groups of at least four schools). Each teacher receives:

  • 30 copies of each test form
  • 30 answer sheets
  • Scoring masks (dependent on type of benchmark administered)
  • Administration and score interpretation guide
  • Unlimited use of the Member Center and its reporting tools
  • Training on test administration and interpretation

Tests are reusable if answer forms are used. Additional professional development days for test interpretation, achievement, and Member Center navigation are available. Costs for online testing in states where it is available are dependent on enrollment at the school.
