Success for All Foundation Congratulates Elk Creek Elementary School on its Blue Ribbon Award
Baltimore, Maryland – The Success for All Foundation congratulates Elk Creek Elementary School in New Castle, Colorado, on its recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. Each year, the U.S. Department of Education recognizes schools that have achieved strong overall academic excellence or that have made great strides in closing achievement gaps with the National Blue Ribbon award. These schools exemplify student learning at the highest level, and attest to the hard work and joint effort of school leaders, teachers, faculty, students, their families and communities in creating an environment where high expectations for teaching and learning are celebrated and achieved. Education Secretary Arne Duncan announced the 2014 Blue Ribbon Schools on Monday, and the Success for All Foundation congratulates these schools and especially Elk Creek Elementary, a member of the Success for All network of schools, on its accomplishment.

“We are so proud of the students, teachers and leadership at Elk Creek Elementary,” said Nancy Madden, President & CEO of the Success for All Foundation. “Their hard work and dedication to achievement have truly paid off, and we are thrilled that they are receiving recognition for their efforts and success.”

“The goal of Success for All is to make a difference in the lives of students using a curriculum and program components that are based on rigorous evidence. The students at Elk Creek will never forget this award, and hopefully it will inspire them and create a lifelong love of learning,” stated Robert Slavin, Chairman of the Success for All Foundation.

Elk Creek Elementary, which utilizes the Success for All reading and literacy program, was one of only four schools recognized in Colorado among the 337 recognized nationwide. The Department of Education will hold a recognition ceremony November 10-11, 2014 in Washington, DC.
