In Tutoring with the Lightning Squad tutors coach students and analyze progress to ensure students are advancing at an accelerated pace to be at or above grade level. Students work in pairs to improve phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension through interactive, partner-supported games. Online Home Link videos reinforce reading skills and let students show off what they are learning in school.

Tutoring with the Lightning Squad has a 1 Strong Evidence ESSA rating. In a recent study of students in Baltimore City, significant benefits were seen in all grades—students gained 25% of a grade level in one Baltimore City Schools analysis, and 38% of a grade level in another, based on Success for All’s Assessments.

In Tutoring with ThemeReads tutors coach students and analyze progress to ensure students are advancing at an accelerated pace to be at or above grade level. It is compiled with activities that improve overall fluency by concentrating on building vocabulary and comprehension. Skills addressed throughout the activities are the author’s purpose, cause & effect, compare & contrast, drawing conclusions, fact & opinion, main idea, problem & solution, and sequencing.
