From first sounds to complex ideas — a complete literacy system, Pre-K through adolescence

SFA's curriculum was designed as one complete system — written, developed, and published by Success for All. Every skill is intentionally sequenced. Every grade connects to the next. Oral language, phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, knowledge-building, comprehension — all of it, across every year, without gaps.
Because every lesson gives teachers a clear, evidence-based framework for delivering strong instruction, it works for every teacher in the building, not just the most experienced ones. That's intentional.
What runs through every component
The Cycle of Effective Instruction
Every lesson follows the same proven sequence: Active Instruction, Teamwork, Assessment, Celebration. Teachers deliver strong, structured lessons and students are actively engaged throughout — reading, discussing, practicing, and building on each other's thinking every day.
Cooperative learning at the core
Students work in structured pairs and teams in every SFA lesson, at every grade level — keeping every student engaged and accountable.
Rich texts — fiction and nonfiction
Students read whole novels, age-appropriate literature, and carefully selected informational texts chosen to build the knowledge and vocabulary they need to become strong, confident readers.
Assessment that drives instruction
Every component includes built-in assessment tools so teachers always know where every student is and what to do next.
The SFA literacy curriculum
— Pre-K through adolescence
SFA meets each student where they are. Whether a school — or a student — begins in Pre-K or kindergarten, fourth grade or middle school, students get exactly what they need from day one.
SFA: Curiosity Corner Pre-K
A comprehensive preschool curriculum that develops the whole child — oral language, literacy, mathematics, and social development — through thematic units and a structured daily instructional process.
SFA: KinderCorner Kindergarten
A full-day comprehensive kindergarten curriculum built on oral language development, phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, and cooperative learning — giving every kindergartner the foundation they need to become a reader. Includes SFA: KinderPhonics.
SFA: Reading RootsBeginning readers/Grade 1
A science of reading-aligned beginning reading curriculum that connects phonics instruction, shared stories, partner practice, and writing in a fast-paced, engaging daily lesson. Includes SFA: FastTrack Phonics.
SFA: Reading Wings Grades 2-6
A reading curriculum for developing readers that builds comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and a love of reading through rich fiction and nonfiction texts — including whole novels — and structured cooperative learning.
SFA: The Reading Edge Adolescent
A comprehensive literacy curriculum for all adolescent learners — from students who are years behind to those ready for honors-level work — preparing every student for the demands of complex texts, high school coursework, and beyond.
Also part of the full SFA model
These components are included in the full SFA model. They are also available as standalone offerings.
SFA: Getting Along Together Schoolwide
Across the SFA model, Getting Along Together builds the cognitive-regulation, emotional-regulation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills students use to learn and work well together. Skills are introduced through explicit lessons and reinforced through daily routines across classrooms and the school.
SFA: Tutoring Grades 1-12
Daily, data-driven tutoring aligned to classroom instruction. Purpose-built materials for every grade: Tutoring with Lightning Squad (grades 1–3) and Tutoring with ThemeReads (grades 4–12).
Standalone phonics and math
These are the same phonics curricula embedded in KinderCorner and Reading Roots, available separately for schools that need targeted instruction without adopting the full model.
SFA: KinderPhonics Kindergarten
Explicit, systematic phonics instruction for kindergarten.
SFA: FastTrack Phonics Grades K-2
Sequential, systematic phonics instruction for grades K–2.
SFA: PowerTeaching Math Grades 6-8 and Algebra
A rigorous, cooperative learning-based mathematics curriculum built on the same instructional framework as SFA's literacy system. Prepares students to think like mathematicians, articulate solutions, and meet college and career-ready standards.

Every child can learn to read. Every teacher can help them.
SFA's curriculum has worked in rural, urban, and suburban schools, public schools, charter schools, and private ones, schools with strong teachers and those building capacity from scratch. Every component is built to the same standard: rigorous, research-grounded, and built on nearly 40 years of turning reading science into great teaching in every classroom.
For Title I eligible schools (public, private, and charter) up to $100,000 in School Success Scholarship support may be available to help with first-year implementation costs.
