Grounded in decades of research, SFA is a system that integrates effective instruction, early intervention, and a rich, well-structured literacy curriculum. It’s one of few comprehensive literacy solutions to earn the highest possible evidence rating under the Every Student Succeeds Act.

Highest possible evidence rating: ESSA Tier 1 – Strong Evidence.

The crisis we can’t ignore

  • Only 32% of U.S. fourth graders read on grade level — just 19% in high-poverty schools.
  • Children who aren’t reading proficiently by grade 3 are four times more likely to drop out of high school.
  • That risk more than doubles for children living in poverty.

Support Our Mission

Apply for an SFA Scholarship

Schools using SFA see stronger reading outcomes, improved teacher retention, fewer referrals to special education, and healthier school systems overall. And most schools sustain the program for as little as $25 per student annually.

Now, through the generosity of a private donor, we’re offering implementation scholarships to help offset first-year implementation costs.

These scholarships are available to Title I–eligible public, private, and charter elementary schools ready to build a system that ensures every child learns to read.
